Bronny James threw down the iconic Kobe Bryant reverse dunk after LeBron’s tribute

Awesome.

LeBron James paid an incredible — and unplanned — tribute to Kobe Bryant last week when he threw down a fastbreak dunk against the Rockets with the exact reverse dunk Kobe Bryant broke out 19 years ago. The dunk produced one of the most iconic LeBron photos of his career, and it was such a special moment that LeBron was still discussing the dunk days later.

But it wasn’t just LeBron who channeled Kobe with the reverse jam — LeBron’s son, Bronny James, did so as well.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday night, LeBron discussed the eery similarities between his reverse dunk and the original Kobe Dunk from 2001. Both dunks were on the same basket, at the same arena and off steals. While LeBron’s dunk took place during a game, Bronny broke the reverse dunk out during warmups of Sierra Canyon’s game.

LeBron said of the moment:

“I was watching social media today, and my son did the same thing in his warmup. He didn’t do it in a game, but he kind of did the same dunk in his warmups today. So, Kobe — he’s in all of us right now.”

LeBron added that he didn’t plan that dunk in the moment as a nod to Kobe, but he loved that the similarities were so striking.
