No rookie was chosen as a finalist for 2020 U.S. Olympic’s Men’s Team

The 44 finalists for the 2020 U.S. Olympic’s Men’s Team in Tokyo were unveiled on Monday.

USA Basketball on Monday unveiled the 44 finalists for the U.S. Men’s Basketball Team set to play in the 2020 Summer Olympics July 24-Aug. 9 in Tokyo, Japan.

LeBron James, Kevin Durant, James Harden and Russell Westbrook are among the players selected as finalists for the games as a final 12-man roster will be announced later this year.

No rookie or second-year player was chosen to represent the U.S. with the USA Basketball Board of Directors prioritizing adding players with previous Team USA experience, including the 12 members of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Team.

The 2020 Olympic men’s basketball competition will feature 12 nations, including host Japan, Argentina, Australia, France, Iran, Nigeria, Spain and the United States.

The U.S. men have collected a medal in all 18 Olympics in which they have competed, including 15 gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals. The Americans own a 138-5 all-time, win-loss record in Olympic action.
