Early in the 2019 season, the Pittsburg Steelers front office made the bold decision to trade their 2020 first-round pick for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. The move turned out to be genius has Fitzpatrick became the catalyst for a remarkable defensive turnaround that almost carried a hobbled Steelers’ offense into the playoffs.
But how does that trade leave the Steelers in terms of their 2020 NFL draft haul? Well according to the folks over at Tankathon, not great. They calculated a score for every NFL team based on the draft picks they have and assigning a point value based on a trade-value formula.
The Steelers landed a score of 550.2 which was only better than the score of the Houston Texans in terms of futility. While this is an interesting simulation it is almost completely ridiculous. The Steelers got an All-Pro for their 2020 first-round pick. How many 2020 rookies are going to do that?
