Two-time Olympic champion boxer [autotag]Claressa Shields[/autotag] has made it clear in recent months that she wants to try her hand at MMA. But for all we know, it’s just been talk.
Any doubt, however, might have been erased Friday.
Shields posted a training video of herself on Twitter in which she’s working on more than just punching. There were kicks!
The tweet also included a message for inevitable would-be haters.
🤷🏽♀️ save the criticism it was my first time ! But I am serious about transitioning! pic.twitter.com/jaFQinMEJn

All right, well, those kicks look slow and labored, so if you want to be a jerk about it and troll Shields on Twitter, I guess have at it. But here’s the thing: She’s already owned it. You’ve got to crawl before you can walk and walk before you can run, and here’s proof that she’s willing to put in the work to get there. So good for her.
After all, if she wants that fight with UFC champion Amanda Nunes, it’ll have to take place in the cage.
