HOUSTON – [autotag]Mario Bautista[/autotag] had a new experience during his faceoff with Miles Johns ahead of UFC 247.
For the first time in his career, Bautista (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had an opponent talk a bit of trash to him as the pair came eye-to-eye at Thursday’s media day event. He said Johns (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) attempted to take a shot at his weight cut.
“He said I look drained, but this is not my first rodeo,” Bautista told MMA Junkie. “This is the best I’ve ever felt, so we’ll see if I look drained on Saturday night.”

Despite the comments during the faceoff, Bautista is not taking things personally and said he’s expecting a barnburner on fight night.
“He said some things, I think he’s trying to get inside my head and I think that shows insecurity in yourself,” Bautista said. “That’s the first time anyone has said anything to me so I think I got a good read on him and I think it’s going to be a pretty good fight.”
UFC 247 takes place Saturday at Toyota Center in Houston. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on UFC Fight Pass/ESPN+
