National Signing Day has come and gone, and Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class if officially set. There were 25 total members (26, if you count North Carolina grad transfer tight end Carl Tucker) with talent across the board.

In order for fans to get to know the Crimson Tide’s newest players, we have laid out a “get to know them” article for each member, starting with five-star quarterback Bryce Young out of California.

247Sports ranking: 5-star / No. 1 overall / No. 1 DT-QB

Rivals ranking: 5-star / No. 2 overall / No. 1 DT-QB

ESPN ranking: 5-star / 91 overall grade / No. 1 QB-DT

Signing date: Dec. 18, 2019

Where does he fit in? Young is one of the most talented quarterback prospects that has ever signed with Alabama coming out of high school. Outside of size (6-0, 190), he possesses elite tools which should help him make an impact in Year 1.

The departure of Tua Tagovailoa to the NFL opened the door for Young to take hold of a starting job sooner rather than later, but Mac Jones should still be the presumed favorite until proven otherwise.

Regardless of the outcome of that battle, it’s possible that Young could see significant snaps in certain situations, especially if he can prove to be a threat with his legs while not exposing himself to big hits. Barring some unforeseen development, this five-star quarterback should become one of college football’s most dynamic playmakers.
