Tom Brady’s much-anticipated free agency decision has created an insane amount of speculation around the NFL.
One of the biggest intricacies in the situation is whether or not Bill Belichick wants him to remain with the New England Patriots. Reports came out in 2017 that Belichick wanted to keep Jimmy Garoppolo over the quarterback who was 40 years old. But, the Patriots stuck with their guy and went to three consecutive Super Bowls — winning two.
So, how does Belichick feel about retaining the same guy who’ll be 43 at the start of the 2020 season?
While joining WEEI’s ‘Dale & Keefe’ show, NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran shared some insight on Belichick’s feeling toward the situation.
.@tomecurran asked if Bill Belichick wants Tom Brady back:
"At a price, yeah. From all I've gathered, he would prefer to have Tom playing QB in 2020…if it comes to a crossroads, [Belichick] can easily get his mind around saying goodbye [to Brady] as well…"

Of course, he wouldn’t be devastated if Brady didn’t return. Belichick has a team to coach, and a quarterback approaching his mid-40’s isn’t ideal for the future of the franchise. But, his approval will play a ginormous factor in Brady’s decision.
Free agency officially begins on March 18 and the Patriots have minimal time to collect some weapons to surround Brady.
