LeBron James named Western Conference Player of the Month for January

The Los Angeles Lakers star was named Player of the Month for January after his team went 10-4 in the month.

After a tumultuous month that included both professional highs and personal difficulty, LeBron James earned his first Player of the Month award in the 2019-20 season, only a month after turning 35.

The NBA announced on Tuesday that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James as the Western Conference Player of the Month for January, with Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetkounmpo taking the honors for the Eastern Conference.

The Lakers were 10-4 in the month of January as LeBron averaged over 25 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds while shooting over 50% from the field and 34% from the 3-point line. James also had the incredible historical milestone of moving into No. 3 on the NBA’s All-Time scoring list in January.

Houston’s James Harden and Dallas’ Luka Doncic won the first two Player of the Month awards in the West while Antetkounmpo has swept all of the awards in the Eastern Conference.

Portland’s Damian Lillard was the only real competition for James in the West in January as he averaged 34 points, eight assists and five rebounds per game while shooting 48.8% from the field and a scorching 45% from the 3-point line while the Blazers went 8-7.
