The Jacksonville Jaguars parted ways with Director of Player Personnel Chris Polian recently but it didn’t take long for them to find a replacement. News broke that the team will be hiring former 49ers general manager Trent Baalke to fill the vacancy and he’ll be helping the team immediately as far as roster decisions and free agency goes.

Baalke, 55, was the 49ers general manager for six seasons where he led them to three winning seasons (two of which were first place division titles), two losing seasons and an 8-8 season. His run included the 2012 season in which the 49ers went to Super Bowl XLVII and lost to the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately after that, he wasn’t able to sustain the team’s success and was fired in 2016.
Afterward, Baalke became an advisor but this is his first time officially back with an organization in the NFL.

Under Baalke, the 49ers were able to draft stars like Colin Kaepernick, Aldon Smith and acquire several other key players to their success of the early part of the last decade. After getting a long time to reflect on his mistakes while evaluating the league, it appears he had an itch to help out a team in the league and now he’ll be one of Dave Caldwell’s lieutenants.
