Tom Brady shook up the NFL world with a cryptic tweet on Thursday night.
With his looming free agency decision around the corner, speculation was at an all-time high. Brady never circled back around to explain the tweet, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter quickly reported that the tweet wasn’t related to his football future. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo came out Sunday morning saying that it’s a teaser for a Super Bowl LIV commercial.
The mystery of the ambiguous photo @TomBrady posted last week will be solved today. Sources tell me and @RapSheet it was a teaser for a commercial that will air during #SuperBowlLIV. #ad #walkingaway? #walkingforward? pic.twitter.com/1D2PmC2Djc

With the tragic news of Kobe Bryant’s passing last week, it’s very possible the commercial will be correlated. Bryant posted a similar picture after playing 20 seasons with the same team, similar to Brady. ESPN’s Mike Reiss dove in a little deeper on the connection between both photos.

It’s still a possibility that Brady won’t be wearing a New England Patriots uniform next season, but this cryptic tweet doesn’t seem to have much relevance in that conversation.
