3 49ers 2020 free agents in Super Bowl LIV to keep an eye on for Raiders

There is no stage bigger than the Super Bowl. Getting that elusive ring is the first priority. After that, it’s about leaving it all on the field because the world is watching. That is especially true for guys who may be hitting free agency in March. Each team has some high profile players headed for free agency. We’re focusing on three for each. Here are the 49ers to watch.

WR Emmanuel Sanders (32)

The more I think about it, the more I think Sanders may be the perfect free-agent wide receiver for the Raiders’ needs. Even at 32, he’s still plenty fast. He runs great routes and takes pride in his blocking. He’s also got championship experience playing in his third Super Bowl as a Pro, having won one with the Broncos in 2015. What’s not to like?

DT Arik Armstead (26)

The 49ers have their own potentially highly sought after free agent along the defensive line. He was part of a much more stout unit and stands to raise his stock considerably more with a great performance in the Super Bowl. He’s coming off a breakout season in 2019 with 10.0 sacks and 54 combined tackles. Chiefs DT Chris Jones will get paid big time and Armstead may not be far behind, so if the Raiders want to make a splash at DT, they will have a couple top guys both playing in this game.

FS Jimmie Ward (28)

It’s possible the Raiders are content with the starting safety duo of Erik Harris and Johnathan Abram. That is, of course, if they choose not to bring back Karl Joseph. But as Mike Mayock has said, they will never commit to any position and will always be looking to see how they might improve. This 28-year-old former first-round pick will look to give every team a reason to believe he is the upgrade they need.
