LAS VEGAS – On the night of UFC 246, [autotag]Felice Herrig[/autotag] was strolling down the Las Vegas strip after watching Conor McGregor’s win over Donald Cerrone when, as tends to happen in “Sin City,” she encountered an unruly drunk woman.
Herrig, who’s been in Las Vegas for two weeks rehabbing her surgically repaired knee at the UFC Performance Institute, posted on Instagram about allegedly being punched in the face shortly after it happened. She explained in further detail what transpired during an interview with MMA Junkie.
“Yeah, that was really weird,” Herrig said. “That was the start of my Vegas journey, and it wasn’t my fault. I feel like people in Vegas are crazy. …
“She stopped traffic to pick up a penny! Literally a penny. And I called her out on it.”
Even though she made a remark, Herrig said she continued walking along with her friend.
“Three minutes later, there’s somebody behind me saying, like, ‘The penny was on heads!'” Herrig said. “And I’m like, ‘I do not give a sh*t.'”

Herrig didn’t know what else to say at that moment. She didn’t want to get in a fight given that she’s a UFC fighter but also conscious that she could risk ruining her recovery from a torn ACL suffered last April.
Herrig said the woman was persistent, though, getting in her face and asking, “What are you gonna do about it?”
“And I’m like, ‘I’m not gonna do anything about it unless you do something about it first,'” Herrig said. “If you punch me, I will defend myself. And she punched me. And I had to defend myself, so I punched her back really hard.”
A brief scuffle ensued, and the woman ran away, according to Herrig. And that was the end of that. Herrig was left with a bloody nose, she said, after the woman head-butted her during the scuffle.
You can hear Herrig discuss the incident in detail with MMA Junkie Radio’s “Gorgeous” George in the video above. For the full interview, check below.
