Not Right as Rayne: Dak Prescott shoulder yet to fully heal

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott’s shoulder still hasn’t fully healed from the hit he sustained against the Los Angeles Rams.

The amount of pain an NFL player is required to endure to make it through an NFL season is likely unimaginable to the majority of the population. When the season ends, fans hear about players having surgeries to clean “minor” things up with both player and team believing fully they’ll be ready for training camp, if not the entirety of off-season programs.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott injured his shoulder a month and a half ago during the Week 15 drubbing of the Los Angeles Rams.  He has still not healed fully. This comes straight from the horse’s mouth during an appearance on the Dan Patrick show earlier Thursday.

It’s improving. For the record, there should be no alarm bells rung about the Prescott’s 2020 outlook. This is merely a look at what he had been dealing with the final two weeks of the season.

A brief recap of the events following the injury during match-up with the Rams. A tackle by linebacker Clay Matthews with about eight minutes left in the first quarter was where the damage happened. His performance for the rest of the game was outstanding. He was so good that there was no concern heading into the following week, the game that would likely decide the fate of the NFC East. A bit of rest would have him right as rain and ready to earn the team’s third playoff appearance in his first four seasons.

Things didn’t go as planned. Prescott and the offense couldn’t get anything meaningful going throughout the contest, settling for just three field goals. Entering the season finale, he was unable to get meaningful snaps for the second consecutive week, though it didn’t matter as he torched the Washington Redskins to the tune of over 300 passing yards and four touchdowns.

Prescott finished the season with career highs in yards (4,902) and touchdown throws (30).

For those who stopped watching football after the Cowboys were eliminated just before the new year, it’s almost the Super Bowl. There’s still plenty of time before offseason workouts begin, but for now Prescott still isn’t back to 100 percent.

And now, this.
