Sixers prospect Marial Shayok scores 20 points, but Blue Coats lose

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Marial Shayok had another solid game for the Delaware Blue Coats.

While the Philadelphia 76ers begin a road trip on Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks before three big games to end their trip. While they’re on the road, their G League affiliate also hit the road on Wednesday night.

The Delaware Blue Coats traveled to Canton to take on the Charge on Wednesday and they battled, but they ultimately fell 116-103. In the process, they received another big game from the rookie.

Sixers second-rounder Marial Shayok scored 20 points while pulling down nine rebounds to lead Delaware on the night. He shot 9-for-18 overall, but he had a rough night from beyond the arc as he was shut out missing all five of his attempts from deep.

There’s a high chance that Shayok will not see the floor with the Sixers any time this season, and that’s a good thing by the way, but if he can continue to progress this way he can earn a chance in the future.

Haywood Highsmith, who was a Sixers two-way guy in 2018-19, also scored 20 points with six rebounds. He shot 7-for-11 and he drilled 4-for-5 from deep in his efforts. Christ Koumadje had 17 points and 14 rebounds while Xavier Munford had 14 points and seven assists. [lawrence-related id=24548,24539,24518]
