The Senior Bowl is all about the practices with the game being just a bonus. All eyes are on Utah State quarterback Jordan Love, so let’s take a look at what was said about the Aggies quarterback from the week.

Getting compared to Patrick Mahomes and Jimmy G?!?! [ESPN]

“He’s so talented but he’s inconsistent and it’s the same thing you see on tape. The only consistent part of his game is how inconsistent he is with his accuracy,” ESPN’s Todd McShay said. “His decision making and his accuracy have got to improve.”

Love has arm strength for days and athleticism that draws comparisons to Patrick Mahomes. But Love’s 2019 season was tough to watch at times. That can be attributed to all the new faces on the Aggies’ offense but also, as Love told us this week, to him trying to do too much and forcing throws, many of which ended as one of his 17 interceptions.

“In a perfect world… you’re not taking this guy in the first round so you don’t have to play him right away,” said former NFL executive Mike Tannenbaum. [KSL Sports]

We can’t quit Love — which sounds like a Motown song title — and Wednesday’s performance is case in point of why. Love makes some of the prettier throws you’ll see. There are times when you think there aren’t a dozen QBs in the NFL who are more gifted throwers. And there are plenty more when he’s not pretty at all.

Love had a better day overall than any other Senior Bowl QB, even Justin Herbert, who again was very solid after a strong Tuesday effort. Love’s evaluation isn’t an easy one, given his up-and-down final season, but the likelihood of him being a top-15 pick feels higher than the possibility of him slipping out of Round 1.
