Balanced Jazz attack too much for Warriors to overcome in 129-96 loss

The Warriors were simply no match for the Jazz on Wednesday night.

The Utah Jazz entered Wednesday night’s contest against the Warriors as one of the hottest teams in the NBA and they didn’t cool down against D’Angelo Russell and company. Utah sent Golden State to their 11th loss in their last 12 contests by a final score of 129-96.

Behind a balanced attack that saw six of their players score in double-figures, the Jazz took their first lead of the night with about nine minutes remaining in the first quarter and didn’t look back. They led 31-17 after the first quarter and took a 65-43 lead into the half.

By the time it was all said and done, the Jazz had six players score in double-figures, led by 23 points from Donovan Mitchell and 22 points from Rudy Gobert, who also added 15 rebounds. As a team, they shot 55.1% from the field for the contest, while allowing the Warriors to connect on just 39.4% of their looks.

Draymond Green (five points, four rebounds, two assists) and Glen Robinson III (10 points, two rebounds) each returned to the lineup after each being missing the last two games, but they could do little to help the Warriors topple the Jazz, who entered the contest having won 17 of their last 19 games.

As a result, the Warriors will enter play on January 23 with the worst record in the league at 10-36. They will next be in action when they host the Indiana Pacers on Friday night at Chase Center.
