It is NFL draft season and mock drafts will come frequently. While it is way to early to make any real predictions for teams and their draft picks, we can start to look at scenarios.
Sports Illustrated’s latest mock draft has the Arizona Cardinals taking a familiar name with the eighth pick in the draft.
In this mock draft, they take Oklahoma receiver CeeDee Lamb.
One of seven teams to allow at least 50 sacks last season, the Cardinals could opt for one of the top offensive tackles here. Even though Arizona invested three picks at wide receiver in last year’s draft, and Larry Fitzgerald decided to return for his age-37 season, Lamb has the ability to be a true No. 1 receiver, which allows Christian Kirk to move into a complementary No. 2 role. While he doesn’t possess elite speed, Lamb is a precise route runner and possesses enough speed to create separation to go along with his outstanding hands and body control as he reunites with his former quarterback in Kyler Murray.
Lamb is a popular pick right now for Arizona.
In this mock, they pass over a number of talented players. Still available are Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons, Georgia tackle Andrew Thomas, Iowa tackle Tritan Wirfs and Alabama receiver Jerry Jeudy.
Could the Cardinals pick Lamb over any of these other top prospects?
That would say a lot about what they see in Lamb as a prospect.
