NFC West continues to be part of Super Bowl scene

The NFC West makes its 6th appearance in the last 11 years.

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers 37-20 on Sunday to secure a berth in the Super Bowl. It meant another NFC West team making it to the big game.

No other division has been as prominent in the Super Bowl over the last several years.

Since 2009, every team in the division has been to the Super Bowl. The Cardinals and Rams have each been once and the 49ers and Seattle Seahawks twice each. They are 1-4 in the previous five trips to the Super Bowl. The Seahawks are the only team to win a title.

Here are the results of the last five Super Bowls with the NFC West:

  • Super Bowl XLIII: Steelers 27, Cardinals 23
  • Super Bowl XLVII: Ravens 34, 49ers 31
  • Super Bowl XLVIII: Seahawks 43, Broncos 8
  • Super Bowl XLIX: Patriots 28, Seahawks 24
  • Super Bowl LIII: Patriots 13, Rams 3

San Francisco is a 1.5-point underdog in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.
