49ers-Packers playoff game has 2 former Cardinals

Jared Veldheer and Tramon Williams are both former Cardinals starters.

The NFC Championship Game on Sunday evening will feature the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers. The 49ers do not have a single player on their roster who used to play for the Arizona Cardinals.

The Packers, though, have two former Cardinals.

One is offensive lineman Jared Veldheer.

Veldheer played for the Cardinals from 2014-2017 before being traded to the Denver Broncos. He played one year for the Broncos and then signed this past offseason with the New England Patriots. He announced his retirement in May and then came out of retirement in November, signing with the Packers. He played two games before the end of the season, starting once.

With right tackle Byran Bulaga healthy, Veldheer will likely just only watch from the sideline.

The other is cornerback Tramon Williams.

Williams spent one season with the Cardinals in 2017 and played very well. It was good enough for him to get a new contract from the Packers, form whom he had played the first eight years of his career. Now 36 years old, he had two interceptions this season.
