Last season, the Chicago Bears played an away game against the Oakland Raiders at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London as part of the NFL’s International Series.
The game was a deflating 24-21 loss, which seemed to define the rest of Chicago’s disappointing 8-8 season. While the Bears don’t have such great memories from last season’s international game, perhaps they’ll get a chance to fix that.
Two of the three teams on the Bears’ schedule have agreed to host a “home” game internationally in London or Mexico City in 2020: The Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons. The Miami Dolphins, the third team, aren’t on the Bears’ schedule.
Considering that the Bears play both the Jags and Falcons on the road this season, there’s a possibility that Chicago could have another international away game.
Although, it is rare for teams to play in London in consecutive years, with the exception of the Jags, who have an annual contract in place. So the chances are the Bears will avoid a second straight season playing an international game.
While it’s not certain whether the Bears will play another international game this season (the 2020 schedule will be released in April), it’s certainly a possibility.
