#Steelers All Pro guard David DeCastro had an ankle surgery procedure this week. I’m told that’s why he pulled out of the Pro Bowl. From what I understand, the surgery went as well as could be expected and he won’t miss extended time in the offseason program.

According to Yahoo Senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson, the reason Pittsburgh Steelers guard David DeCastro pulled out of the Pro Bowl was due to a situation with his ankle for which he had surgery this week. According to Robinson, the surgery shouldn’t keep him out of offseason workouts.
DeCastro was once again the anchor of the Steelers offensive line in 2019. However, the line as a whole played well below what they are capable of that this includes DeCastro. In pass protection, the unit as a whole remained elite but you saw a significant dropoff in run blocking leading to the team’s major offensive struggles.
