Colts listed as potential landing spot for Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy Two Gloves to the Colts?

As the offseason approaches for the Indianapolis Colts, there will be several decisions to make over the next few months. Among them will include a decision at the quarterback position and whether the team wants to make additions there.

While the most likely scenario has the Colts drafting a quarterback in April, there is still free agency to get through. There are a number of options set to hit the market, including Teddy Bridgewater, currently of the New Orleans Saints.

If Bridgewater does want to test the market, Bleacher Report listed the Colts as one of the potential landing spots for the 27-year-old.

Similar to other teams here, the Indianapolis Colts might be ready to move on from their current starter—and it would likely create a situation with some appeal to Bridgewater.

The Colts always seem to rank near the top of the NFL in cap space, and the front office there has been rather conservative with it, building their own way. That would change if Chris Ballard and Co. want to cough up the cash for a potential franchise passer after Jacoby Brissett completed less than 60 percent of his passes with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions after Andrew Luck’s retirement.

It might be hard for Bridgewater to say no if the money is right. Besides the prestige of the organization and consistency of the front office, he’d link up with weapons like T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle, as well as one of the better offensive lines in football.

Keep in mind the Colts enter the offseason with nearly $100 million to work with, meaning Bridgewater could make some requests. It’s a malleable, already strong situation for him to enter.

With Jacoby Brissett already on the roster, it would be unlikely for the Colts to bring in Bridgewater. However, there were some impressive stints with Teddy when he had to fill in for Drew Brees.

In his five starts during the 2019 season, Bridgewater completed 69.7% of his passes for 1,205 yards, nine touchdowns, two interceptions and a 103.7 passer rating.

It is unlikely that the Colts bring in Bridgewater but given the working pieces they have around the quarterback position, they will continue to be listed as a solid landing spot for potentially available quarterbacks.
