Joe Burrow is a national champion: What’s next?

What’s next for Joe Burrow? The Bengals?

Joe Burrow torched the Clemson Tigers en route to the national title, throwing another five touchdowns and 463 yards.

That’s 60 touchdowns on the season with just six interceptions, the former shattering a single-season FBS record. He was also outright responsible for 64 touchdowns, also a record.

Up next? The 2020 NFL draft.

Burrow will need to find reps for the process if he hasn’t already. As a senior, there isn’t a major decision to make about the draft — but he does need to decide if he’ll play or at least attend the Senior Bowl.

And the Bengals really, really want Burrow at the Senior Bowl on January 25. So much so, Zac Taylor has called Burrow’s family about attending.

From there, Burrow will weave through the ususal draft proceedings, from team meets to pro days to the combine. If it’s anything like the way he navigates a collapsing pocket, it’ll probably go off without a hitch. The draft process, be it teams with motives or the media side, tend to attempt at breaking down a player’s stock to keep things interesting, but it’s hard to see it having much impact after the most prolific passing performance in college football history.

All of this vibes as if Burrow is already the pick of the Bengals. There’s a long way to go and the team will posture like he isn’t. But it’s going to be an easy act to see through — not only is Burrow the best chance at winning, the fanbase might further revolt if they don’t bring the Ohio kid home.
