When Kyrie Irving addressed the media on Saturday — the first time he’d done so since November 14 — it seemed like his season was on the precipice of coming to an end. He explained had received a cortisone shot on Christmas Eve with the hopes of avoiding surgery. But, Irving also stated he may still need to undergo surgery at some point.
Fast-forward to Thursday’s practice where Irving was a full participant — which means he took part in 5-on-5, a major step for Irving.
The Brooklyn Nets superstar point guard addressed the media after the workout, where he explained what the next steps are in his process, per Malika Andrews of ESPN.
We just see where we end up in the next few days. Realistically, we will re-evaluate tomorrow. See how I feel tomorrow. Then go Saturday — probably another practice.
Irving also revealed the ideal timetable for his return:
Hopefully I get some game reps in addition to practice probably in the next week or so. It could be less than that, but I’ll give myself a week.
Irving also added he may need to keep up with his shoulder maintenance for the remainder of his career.
