It has been a tough time recently for Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons. Not only was his team having a rough go at it on the basketball court, but his home country of Australia was also being ravaged by bushfires that were really damaging to the wildlife there.
It was clearly hurting Simmons as he was worried about his homeland and he decided to do something about it. He and the other Australians in the NBA, Jonah Bolden, Joe Ingles, Aron Baynes, Ryan Broekhoff, Matthew Dellavedova, Dante Exum, Thon Maker, and Patty Mills all donated money to recovery efforts that have come out to $750,000 in terms of total money donated.
With the support of the NBPA Foundation and the @NBA, all nine Australian NBA Players commit $750,000 USD to bushfire relief efforts in Australia.

Simmons expressed a lot of concern over Australia recently and this is a big step in the right direction to help the country move on from the devastation.
communities in ruins and this number continues to rise daily.
I am working with my family and calling on my Australian NBA brothers and any others that can, to do our part to help in this catastrophic disaster, not just for today but to support communities in their eventual 2/3

The efforts made by Simmons and the other native Australians in the NBA should help the cause. There is still much work to be done, but these efforts are a good step in the right direction. [lawrence-related id=22955,22945,22923]
