Derrick Henry and the Tennessee Titans shocked the Patriots on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium, and Tom Brady threw a game-sealing pick-six in the final seconds of the fourth quarter to end New England’s season.
With the Patriots failing to secure home-field advantage in the playoffs this season, it’s been speculated by fans and analysts all week that Brady may have been taking the field at Gillette Stadium for his final home game with the team, as the 42-year-old’s contract will void this offseason, making him a free agent. Brady was asked about his future in the build-up to the Titans game, but didn’t provide an answer. When he faced the media on Saturday after the loss to the Titans, Brady was asked once again about potentially retiring, and the six-time Super Bowl champion indicated that retirement is “pretty unlikely.”

“I would say it’s pretty unlikely, but…. yeah, hopefully unlikely.”
Brady also said he wouldn’t predict what happens in the offseason.

“I love the Patriots…. [It’s the] greatest organization, and playing for Mr. Kraft all these years and for coach Belichick, there’s nobody who’s had a better career, I would say, than me just being with them. I’m very blessed, and I don’t know what the future looks like, so, and I’m not going to predict it. I wish we would have won tonight, and I wish we would have done a lot of things better over the course of the season.”
Brady has famously stated in the past that he wants to play until he’s 45, and he’ll turn 43 on August 3rd, before the 2020 NFL season opener. If Brady decides to come back, there’s a possibility it may not be with the Patriots, the only team he’s ever played for in his career. Brady has never been a free agent in his career before, and he’d likely have options if he would consider playing elsewhere.
