After a nearly month-long absence from the court, LaMelo Ball could soon make his return to the court. While no exact timetable or diagnosis was given on Ball’s foot injury, he was expected to return to the court in January. Illawarra’s game on Monday against Adelaide could be that return date, according to a recent article in the Daily Telegraph in Australia.
Illawarra officials remain hopeful that star guard LaMelo Ball will return from his foot injury, as early as this Monday against the 36ers in Adelaide.
Ball did not play in the month of December after the two best games of his short career with Illawarra. In his absence, the Hawks went 2-4 with wins over Adelaide and Syndey and losses to Brisbane, Melbourne, New Zealand and South East Melbourne. The Hawks now sit comfortably in last place in the league, three games back from eighth-place Brisbane.
The Hawks have 10 games left on the schedule, though by the time of Monday’s contest it will be down to nine. While Ball’s return would be too late for any sort of playoff push, it would serve as a final chance for NBA teams to watch Ball on the court in the last stages of the NBL season.
Ball still nearly leads the Hawks in total points and is the top per-game scorer at 17.0 per contest. He is also second on the team in rebounds and leads the team in assists and steals, all despite missing one-third of the season.
