LeBron James and Anthony Davis both expressed their intentions to play on Sunday night against the Dallas Mavericks following Saturday night’s win over the Portland Trail Blazers in Portland. Now with a few hours away from the heat of battle, there’s still a solid chance both play but James is deemed more likely to play than Davis only a few hours from tip-off.
James, currently recovering from a groin re-aggravation on Christmas and a re-aggravated elbow injury on Saturday is probable to play while Davis is questionable after re-aggravating his sore right shoulder from earlier in the season, according to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times.
Last night both LeBron James and Anthony Davis said they planned to play today. James is listed as probable on today’s injury report and Davis is listed as questionable.

James had 21 points and 16 assists in Saturday night’s win despite being considered a game-time decision by head coach Frank Vogel. After the game, James was modest saying that he’s “doing alright for himself” with regards to the health of his groin.
Davis, on the other hand, had 20 points, nine rebounds, and five assists on Saturday. Although he didn’t have eye-popping numbers, he had a string of huge plays to end the third quarter well after Portland briefly grabbed a lead.
The Lakers are 1-1 against the Dallas Mavericks so far this season. They lost the last meeting, at Staples Center, 114-100.
