Miami Heat guard Kendrick Nunn became the fastest undrafted rookie to score 500 points since 1976 after recording 17 points on Friday night in a win over the Indiana Pacers.
After reaching 504 points in his 31st career game, Nunn also became the fastest rookie in franchise history to accomplish the feat, just topping Dwyane Wade, who did it in 32 games. Wade tallied 508 points in his 32nd game with the Heat.
Nunn has emerged as one of the top rookie players this season after his quick start. The former Oakland guard is averaging 16.3 points, 3.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds and one steal per game. Nunn leads all rookies in total scoring, field goals made and 3-pointers made.

Nunn has proven this season that his fast start hasn’t been an accident. Nunn has continued to contribute at a high level this season as he is the second-leading scorer on the Heat behind Jimmy Butler.
As a result of his strong play, Nunn is among the favorites for the Rookie of the Year award. With Zion Williamson out, Nunn and Ja Morant are likely the leading candidates for the award at this point of the season.
