The Seattle Seahawks are dealing with significant injury issues heading into a pivotal Week 17 game against division rival San Francisco on Sunday – which will have major playoff seeding implications – and the team is turning to a beloved old player to help with the playoff push.
The Seahawks signed 33-year-old running back Marshawn Lynch on Tuesday, and Seattle fans will be hoping Lynch can conjure another Beast Quake to help the Seahawks earn the No. 1 overall seed against the 49ers. Lynch last played for Seattle in 2016, and last played an NFL game on October 14th, 2018, for the Raiders. Lynch ran for 376 yards in six games in 2018 before a groin injury ended his season.
Hoping for a Lynch resurgence may be a long shot, but the Seahawks had to add running backs to make up for the losses of Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise, and Lynch is a cheap gamble for Seattle. Lynch will earn a game check of $60,588 for playing one week of the regular season, and can add to his earnings depending on how far the Seahawks advance in the playoffs.
For his return to Seattle, #Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch will make $60,588 in Week 17, plus whatever the playoff share ends up being… plus his share of online sales of “Unfinished business” and “Back in Action” apparel on his website.

Per the collective bargaining agreement, Lynch would earn an additional $28k if the Seahawks were to lose in Week 17 and play in the Wild Card round, $31k for playing in the divisional round, $56k for playing in the NFC title game and $124k for winning the Super Bowl (or $62k for losing in the Super Bowl).
