There’s a lot of anticipation for Wednesday’s matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks. Not only is it a contest between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, but it’s also Christmas Day which is the NBA’s premier day of the year where the top teams go at it.
The Sixers are led by Joel Embiid who will be playing in his third Christmas Day game. In his first matchup with the New York Knicks on the road in 2017, Embiid went for 25 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks as the Sixers went into Madison Square Garden and knocked off New York 105-98.
The following year was a matchup with their hated rivals, the Boston Celtics. Embiid had another big game with 34 points and 16 rebounds, but Philadelphia fell victim to a Kyrie Irving onslaught and dropped a tough one in overtime 121-114.
All in all, Embiid is averaging a robust 29.5 points, 16 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in his Christmas career. He will look to add to those numbers on Wednesday against the NBA leading Bucks which will be a good test to see where the Sixers are in terms of their championship chase.
