After starting the season 0-4, the Broncos have battled back to 6-9, thanks in large part to the emergence of young players including rookie quarterback Drew Lock. Since Lock took over the offense, Denver has a 3-1 record.
After going down 10-0 early on Sunday, the Broncos came back to win 27-17. After the victory, coach Vic Fangio praised the team’s mentality.
“These guys have been that way all year,” Fangio said. “Our record isn’t what anybody wants it to be and we’re not proud of our record, but we are proud of this team. When I say team, these guys play for each other.
“They’ve played hard. It’s a one for all and all for one mentality. They’ve got a brotherhood going. I love being around this team. Nobody likes our record, but this team is a good team.”
Denver has built a young core of players that includes Lock, running back Phillip Lindsay, tight end Noah Fant, guard Dalton Risner, wide receiver Courtland Sutton and outside linebacker Bradley Chubb. With those players and seven picks within the first four rounds of the 2020 NFL draft, the Broncos appear poised to get above the .500 mark next season.
