Well, if the Pittsburgh Steelers make the playoffs, they will have to do it without quarterback Mason Rudolph. The team announced on Tuesday they were placing Rudolph on IR with a shoulder injury and ending his season. Rudolph suffered the injury last week against the New York Jets.
To replace Rudolph on the 53-man roster, Pittsburgh promoted center J.C. Hassenauer. This is almost certainly foreshadowing of center Maurkice Pouncey being out this week against the Baltimore Ravens. Pouncey suffered a knee injury against the Jets.
With Rudolph on IR, Devlin Hodges is back in the starting lineup at quarterback. Paxton Lynch will be his backup. If Pouncey can’t go, B.J. Finney will get the start in his place.
