Borderline incredibly, NFL odds don’t paint the Cincinnati Bengals as big underdogs this weekend against the Miami Dolphins.
Those Bengals have won just a single game this year and enter the week off a blowout loss at the hands of the New England Patriots.
And yet, the Bengals are only 1.5-point underdogs, according to BetMGM.
Which isn’t to say the Dolphins have been some beacon of excellent football play this year. They opened the season with a 59-10 loss and have won all of three games. Ryan Fitzpatrick is the starter under center and he’s thrown just three more touchdowns than interceptions behind a line that has coughed up more than 50 sacks. Fitzpatrick actually leads his team in rushing and the defense allows 31.1 points per game.
At this point, the summary of the Bengals is well known. Andy Dalton is back under center but has led the team to one win. He’s entering Sunday off a four-interception game where Joe Mixon was once again the only sign of life.
From a betting perspective, this is a great week to take the underdog Bengals. Mixon should have a huge day against a bad defense and the Cincinnati pass rush should force Fitzpatrick into more mistakes. The close nature of the line makes it tricky…but why not?
