DALLAS — It’s been a roller coaster ride of a 2019 season for the Dallas Cowboys, to say the least.
But the Cowboys (7-7) found their way back into the win column Sunday with a 44-21 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
Former University of Tennessee tight end Jason Witten had a hand in the victory over Los Angeles (8-6) when he made a one-handed touchdown reception.
With that scoring reception, Witten has now caught 72 touchdown passes in his illustrious career.
He will undoubtedly wind up in Canton in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as his touchdown reception on Sunday moves him to within one scoring catch away from tying the franchise record for career touchdown receptions.
Dez Bryant has the team’s all-time record for TD receptions with 73, but Witten, who retired following the 2017 season, could break Bryant’s record this season.
Witten and the Cowboys play the Philadelphia Eagles this week with the winner likely taking the NFC East division title. The Cowboys defeated the Eagles earlier this season.
