Josh Norman still won’t see increased role despite recent roster moves

The Redskins won’t go back to Josh Norman.

Even a handful of depth issues at defensive back won’t push veteran corner Josh Norman into a bigger role.

Norman was a victim of the Redskins undergoing a youth movement during a developmental stretch of season and it isn’t going to change despite roster moves.

Defensive coordinator Greg Manusky confirmed this leading into Week 16, as captured by JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington: “Greg Manusky said he expects Josh Norman to remain in a very limited role despite the Redskins signing 3 practice squad corners to the active roster this week.”

It was reasonable to think Norman would get back on the field were injuries to happen. Instead, he’s going to remain in a situational role during certain packages, if not on special teams.

Norman himself has talked openly about the benching recently and it’s hard to imagine he’ll have anything wildly different to say now. But the relationship between the team and veteran corner seems to have nearly run its course.
