Through 27 games, Joe Harris is ranked No. 12 in the NBA in 3-point percentage (43.6%). He’s also No. 16 in 3-pointers made (75), despite having only taken the 28th-most 3-pointers (172) this season.
Although his 2019-20 3-point percentage is among the best in the league, it’s down a bit from last year’s absurd, NBA-leading mark (47.4%). Still, Harris has proven he will be among the NBA’s best 3-point shooters for a while.
Which could materialize into more money — perhaps even more money than the Nets can or are willing to give him.
Harris is in the final year of his contract and making $7.7 million — a bargain for the Nets at this point. Zach Lowe of ESPN stated on “The Lowe Post” podcast, Harris is expected to much more money when he hits free agency.
The phrase ‘at least double his money’ has been thrown around by league insiders … [He] is good. He is a good, all-around player. He is tough. He plays defense.
The price tag might be fair, given how the market has evolved and the way 3-point shooters are now valued, but the Nets may not be able to make it work with what they have committed to Harris’ teammates going forward.
