The Green Bay Packers can clinch the NFC North title with the franchise’s first win over the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium, which officially opened in 2016.
The Vikings host the Packers in Minneapolis on Monday night. A win or tie from the visitors will allow Matt LaFleur’s team to celebrate a division title at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Packers, currently 0-3 at the new venue, lost 17-14 in 2016, 23-10 in 2017 and 24-17 in 2018.
The Packers haven’t won the division since 2016. They were NFC North champions four of the five years between 2011 and 2016.
The Packers, 11-3, will face the 10-4 Vikings. Monday night’s matchup will be the fourth matchup between division teams with 10 or more wins since 2015.
Another note: The Packers will ensure they finish as the NFC’s No. 3 seed or better with a win over the Vikings. They can clinch the No. 2 seed or better with wins over the Vikings and Detroit Lions to finish the season.
Of course, the Packers can still clinch the division title if they lose in Minnesota but beat the Lions in the season finale. Still, there’s no doubt the Packers would rather check off the “division title” box on Monday night at a venue where they’ve never won.
