On the cusp of being cut from the UFC in 2017 after suffering three straight losses, Stewart has since won four of his last five. He is currently coming off back-to-back wins over Bevon Lewis and, most recently, Deron Winn in October. He will now compete in his home country of England for the third time in his UFC career.
Vettori has also won his last two in a row, picking up unanimous decision wins over Cezar Ferreira and Andrew Sanchez. In his last loss in April 2018, one judge awarded Vettori the win over undefeated and current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, but the other two gave it to Adesanya, as he was ultimately edged out by split decision. He will now look to make it three wins in a row when he heads into enemy territory and takes on Stewart.
The current UFC London lineup includes:
- John Phillips vs. Dusko Todorovic
- Darren Stewart vs. Marvin Vettori
- Tom Aspinall vs. Raphael Pessoa
- Ashlee Evans-Smith vs. Molly McCann
- Marc Diakiese vs. Stevie Ray
