Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! [autotag]Alexander Volkanovski[/autotag] became the first Australian-born UFC champion on Saturday and received a superstar’s congratulations.
Volkanovski (21-1 MMA, 8-0 UFC) captured the UFC 145-pound title at UFC 245 in Las Vegas, where he dethroned one of the best featherweights of all time, Max Holloway, by unanimous decision.
Nine-time Grammy award nominee and pop star Sia took to Twitter to congratulate fellow Aussie “The Great” Volkanovski on his title-winning performance.

It was another calculated and composed performance from Volkanovski, who used his powerful leg kicks early to halt Holloway’s pressure. Undefeated in the UFC, he hasn’t lost since 2013, capping off an incredible year for City Kickboxing, which also claimed the middleweight title earlier this year by way of Israel Adesanya.
