Sixers’ Mike Scott on being called an ‘adult’: ‘That’s dope. I got kids’

Philadelphia 76ers forward Mike Scott gives an interesting answer to being called an adult.

The Philadelphia 76ers were one again short-handed as they went into Boston to take on a Celtics team who had yet to lose on their home floor all season. With Al Horford out with knee soreness, coach Brett Brown called upon Mike Scott to fill in for him.

Scott answered the call as he had 15 points and he made five of his seven attempts from deep in a 115-109 win over the Celtics on the road. That type of performance is exactly why Brown rolled with Scott.

“We had choices,” said Brown. “I just felt like this building is aggressive. I knew that they hadn’t lost on this court. I just felt like the spirit, of which we needed to combat given our history in this building, needed more of an adult and Mike Scott, if he is anything, is that. He provided the physicality and he made shots.”

Scott was happy with the praise from Brown and he answered in a way that only Mike Scott can answer.

“It’s definitely a confidence booster,” said Scott. “Just going in and play your role. That’s dope that he said I was an adult. I got kids.”

Scott’s play has been huge for the Sixers as of late ever since he broke out of a shooting slump. His ability to help stretch the floor and give the team a big boost whether off the bench or starting makes him a key piece of this team.

The challenge now is to deliver consistently on it as the team returns home to host JJ Redick and the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. [lawrence-related id=21193,21185,21161]
