Utah State quarterback Jordan Love has declared for the 2020 NFL draft.

The redshirt junior announced his decision through Twitter on Tuesday night.

Love is coming off of a bit of a disappointing season, throwing 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions, the latter stat tying for the highest total in the FBS. He threw for 3,085 yards with a 60.6 completion percentage and led the Aggies to a 7-5 record in the regular season. Utah State will play in the Frisco Bowl against Kent State on Dec. 20.

Love started 6 games in his redshirt freshman year in 2017 and was Utah State’s full-time starter for the past two seasons. He started making waves in draft circles last year, when he threw for 32 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions with 3,567 passing yards and a 64.0 completion percentage. He led the Aggies to an 11-2 record in 2018.

“Playing for the Aggies has been a dream come true,” Love stated in his announcement. “And with that being said, I am ready to chase my next dream. After much prayer, consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to forgo my senior year at Utah State and enter the 2020 NFL draft. I knew from the first time I put on a helmet and shoulder pads that I wanted to play in the NFL and am excited to begin that journey now.”

Love regressed from a statistical standpoint this year, but there is still plenty to like in his game. A strong-armed passer who delivers rockets with ease, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback has shown the capability to make any throw on the field. He has flashed impressive touch and anticipation, and he has the athleticism to maneuver the pocket and pick up yards with his feet.

Though his decision-making and ability to look past his first read can use some work, Love has the physical tools to be a capable starting quarterback at the next level. He will likely be selected at some point in the first two rounds, with a chance to sneak into the first round if a team is willing to bet on his upside.
