LeBron says it will be emotional to see Bronny play his alma mater

With Bronny and Sierra Canyon set to play St. Vincent-St. Mary on Saturday, the game will stir up a lot of emotions for LeBron James.

LeBron James said in an interview with ESPN that he will have a lot of emotions as his oldest son, Bronny, and the Sierra Canyon high school basketball team plays his alma mater on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.

The 2019-20 season is the first in which Bronny has played at Sierra Canyon as he joined up with Zaire Wade, the son of Dwyane Wade. The team will travel across the country to face St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in a marquee matchup.

With the Los Angeles Lakers on an East Coast road trip, LeBron is expected to attend the game with the team off on Saturday. As discussed with Dave McMenamin, the game is going to stir up a lot of emotions for LeBron but he is excited about it.

Obviously, everybody knows that St. Vincent-St. Mary is when people started to recognize me from a national standpoint and for it to be 15 years later and my son is about to play a high school game versus my alma mater in our home state, the only thing that would have been more emotional is if my son was playing St. Vincent-St. Mary at the LeBron James Arena in Akron. That would have been like, that would have been too much.

It’s just a pretty cool thing. You don’t know how things are going to line up in life and it almost seems like it’s all coming back full circle seeing my oldest son doing the things that he’s doing. I’m proud of him and his basketball club. They got a great team but more importantly, they are great kids.

James burst onto the national basketball scene during his time in high school as he made the jump directly to the NBA by becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft.

With Bronny beginning his freshman season this year at Sierra Canyon in California, the 15-year-old is considered to be one of the best high school players in the country and LeBron even believes Bronny is a better shooter than he was at the same age.
