Boston Celtics rookie Grant Williams will make his first NBA start of the season Wednesday night against the Miami Heat, according to Abby Chin of NBC Sports Boston.
Head coach Brad Stevens turned to Williams with Marcus Smart nursing an oblique injury. The veteran has also been dealing with an illness that ultimately kept him out of the lineup on Wednesday.
Williams has played sparingly this season for the Celtics but has become known for making hustle plays and injecting energy into the team off of the bench. In 18 games this season, Williams is averaging 2.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15 minutes.
Grant Williams gets the first start of his @NBA career tonight in place of Marcus Smart.
