The Miami Dolphins got back to their winning ways this week with a stunning 37-31 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, an end result nearly no one saw coming — including the sports books. The Dolphins entered Week 13 as nearly double digit underdogs, yet finished strong in the second half to outlast the Eagles for their third win of the season (and third in their last five games). Miami will now transition into a fascinating stretch — by far their easiest stretch of games this season. Miami’s next three opponents own a combined 7 wins this season and the team already owns a win this season over their Week 14 opponent, the New York Jets.
But despite the signs of life from Miami, the sports books aren’t looking for Miami to continue to press up the draft order — the Dolphins are currently listed as 5.5-point underdogs for Week 14, according to BetMGM.
If the Dolphins fail to keep this one within 5 points, it will be because of some strong play over the last month from New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold, who had the Jets on a three game win streak after losing to Miami. That was, of course, before the Jets fell to the previously winless Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13. Which Jets team will show up? This is the time of year in past seasons where Adam Gase’s team would typically fold. The books don’t seem to think Gase’s Jets are in jeopardy of that becoming reality.
At least not yet.
