Report: Patriots waive kicker Kai Forbath, claim defensive tackle Albert Huggins

The Patriots have waived Kai Forbath and claimed Albert Huggins, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Just three days after getting signed, the New England Patriots have waived kicker Kai Forbath, according to ESPN’s Field Yates. They also claimed defensive tackle Albert Huggins off of waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Forbath was signed to replace Nick Folk, who is missing some time due to an emergency appendectomy. The Patriots have had four kickers play throughout the span of 12 games this season and they’re going through an unusual time with the kicker position.

During New England’s Week 13 matchup against the Houston Texans, Forbath made a 23-yard field goal, but he missed an extra point attempt. Folk was 7-for-9 with the Patriots and he’ll likely make a return to the team at some point this season.

Huggins is a 6-foot-3, 305 pound rookie out of Clemson that most recently spent time with the Eagles. He’ll join a defensive linemen crew that includes Lawrence Guy, Danny Shelton, Adam Butler and Byron Cowart.
