MARYVILLE — A Tennessee football commitment helped Class 6A powerhouse Maryville High School reach the state championship.
Senior running back Tee Hodge had 177 rushing yards and scored the lone touchdown in the Rebels’ 12-0 victory over rival and nemesis Oakland in the Class 6A State Semifinals at Jim Renfro Field in Blount County.
Hodge, who has battled injuries this season, has scored 13 rushing touchdowns in 2019.
The victory helped the Rebels keep their perfect 14-0 record intact and avenged last year’s 38-0 loss to the Patriots in the state semifinals in Murfreesboro.
Maryville will face Ravenwood (13-0) in the Class 6A Championship Game on Saturday at 8 p.m. (EST) at Tennessee Tech’s Tucker Stadium.
