Washington Redskins linebacker Cole Holcomb continues to impress.
Holcomb, a fifth-round pick in 2019 who has morphed into an unlikely contributor, was even up for an individual award in the wake of his Week 12 performance.
Rest assured his veteran teammates such as Jon Bostic have noticed.
“You’re starting to see some (growth), but there’s a ways to go. That’s what’s expected of a rookie,” Bostic said, according to The Athletic’s Ben Standig. “The game is starting to slow down for (Cole). He’s starting to call things out as fast as I am.”
Holcomb was an athletic workhorse at North Carolina over 34 starts but pre-draft flags such as adapting to the pro game and reading an offense were question marks.
Slowly, Holcomb has started to brush aside some of these concerns over 11 games. With guys like Reuben Foster down, he’s had to learn on the fly and the progress has been notable.
Chalk it up as another encouraging piece of a good 2019 draft class for the Redskins. Maybe it’s not as notable as Terry McLaurin, but the value with Holcomb sure doesn’t hurt.
