The Boston Celtics have assigned first-round pick Romeo Langford to the Maine Red Claws in the G League, the team announced on Saturday afternoon.
Langford returned to the Celtics to rehab a sprained right ankle suffered on Nov. 15 with the Red Claws. He logged just seven minutes in that game after rolling his ankle but said afterward that it was a minor injury.
Langford is expected to play with the Red Claws on Sunday afternoon in his first action since suffering the injury as Maine faces the Long Island Nets at 12 p.m. ET.
Langford has battled through a variety of injuries since joining the Celtics.
Of course, he did not play in Summer League after recovering from thumb surgery and he also suffered a knee sprain and a groin injury during the preseason that limited him.

Langford recorded 27 points, six blocks, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in his G League debut on Nov. 9. After suffering a few injuries, the Celtics will likely monitor his performance on Sunday as he recovers from his latest setback.
