The passionate fan base of Philadelphia has always been there for their teams. Through thick and thin, they have always shown the support for them all and that’s no different for the 76ers.
The Sixers experienced their 101st consecutive sellout on Wednesday night when they knocked off the Sacramento Kings 97-91 to improve to 8-0 on the home floor to begin the season. They have always been there for the team and even when things aren’t going well, they will let them know of their displeasure.
This is one of the things that coach Brett Brown can appreciate as he stated:
It’s amazing to me because when we travel, I purposefully go down the bench and point to the crowd. I remind our team of how lucky we are to play in this city where there are no pockets of empty seats. Not only aren’t there pockets of empty seats, but there are rabid, passionate, vocal fans, that say whatever they want. It’s Philly. To look out there and feel the home crowd, boos or cheers, you feel it. With our 8-0 record at home, there is a reason for that, and they deserve credit. That volume of sellouts is impressive.
It is always important in this league to have a serious home-court advantage and the Sixers certainly have one as they remain undefeated at the Wells Fargo Center. Those wins at home are important as the team continues to figure itself out on the road.
Brown added:
We need the wins at home. We are trying to figure things out on the road, and you need that. We love playing at home and we love protecting our home court. We understand that this crowd appreciates and pays for effort. For the most part, I think that we give it and I hope that they feel the same.
The Sixers will hit the road on Friday to face the New York Knicks before returning to the home crowd on Saturday when they host the Indiana Pacers. [lawrence-related id=20193,20185,20173]
